Strong signs of autumn today; bronzed leaves on the trees, spider’s webs sparkle in the bushes, the ground heavy with dew. It is nice. What are we contemplating? The long night ahead with the Borders Ball, the afternoon piled with commitments, the travel into and then straight outta Edinburgh, the constant philosophical and spiritual questions, burning like the pain in my back and the inflexibility in my hips. Do I just lay down to die? Accept that I’ll never move like I used to? Get back on it? Mobility is good for the soul, is better for the mind.
