Men first, subjects after. Hard in this day and age though. I was just reading about Roger Deakin and how he bought his ruin of a house and 12 acres of moat land and woods in 1969. To buy that now would be millions. And the opportunity few and far between let alone the cash amount. Too much is snapped up by corporations, wealthy investors with no bottom line whether they’re from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, or England it doesn’t matter. It would be cool if like centuries ago whole communities would lend a hand in the raising of a new building, but that could never happen now. Too many Airbnb’s anyway. Who would want to help out some millionaire’s glass monstrosity that he was only using to make himself richer anyway?
Is community gone? Lost in an age where people don’t actually live in places, whole cities decimated, beholden to the tourist only. Who wants to live in a city now anyway, probably why they are full of immigrants, though how they afford the rent is beyond me. We’re barely scraping by and that’s with two professional wages. Am I in my overdraft by the 10th? Maybe. Most likely. Mild yesterday and today. Big walk with the girls yesterday too. It was great, raining now though.
