Humanity is a mystery. Man is a miscreant and I don’t think there is many people in general that wouldn’t fuck over someone else for their own gain. People are quite content to lead selfish lives and take care of their own base desires rather than look at any bigger picture. They are their own islands, humanity is not a thing because they are not part of it. Is this the idealism we see in youth where we always wish the world was a better place, until we are old and then we realise that that world was the better place. Then all we do is hanker back for the days that once were.
Once were what? More of something, less than something else. Does our lack of morality come from the lessening of the spiritual aspect of our lives? Do we need more or new religion to sort out our selfish minds, a return to a more moral life? Can a truly secular society be truly moral? We can of course be good people and lead good lives without the need of a god, but maybe we all can’t. Maybe I need to set an example with hard-core Catholicism. Knights Templar to the core.
