We continually think that we can eat the same way throughout the year but it is not true. Even the imported fruit right now is garbage. Zero taste, though that is something that is missing form a lot of the imported produce into this country. Why is it bananas are green and then go brown without ever being in that tasty yellow zone? We should forget about eating strawberries in winter and only use the frozen ones we’ve stored for jams etc. Strawberries should only be eaten when Cairnie farm is open and Wimbledon is on. October? Not worth it.
Had to go downstairs there and lost my train of thought. Funny how that’s enough to break it; two minutes of something else and I’ve lost where I was going with that food thing completely. Reminds me of the writer in Stand By Me at the end when the kid says ‘my dad gets like that when he’s writing’. I wonder if that was something that Stephen King’s kids said. Or if it’s even in the story as I’ve not read it. I should chase that up and read it because The Green Mile was an excellent book, and Stand By Me is an excellent movie.
