My hands are cold as I’m writing so it might be messier than usual. Been in for about 15 minutes with a coffee and they’ve still not warmed up! We were out at the Santa run this morning, not taking part, maybe next year, but watching. The girls really enjoyed it, seeing a hundred Santa’s running around the park. My hands are cold form pushing them on the swings whilst watching the runners. All good fun.
Towards the end of the year I am now beginning to see the balance in my life and find the space for the things I need to do. I know I must create or be creative and have numerous avenues of doing this on a limited time budget. Stupid job; but it pays the bills, although barely at the moment. And the mortgage is set to go up by £300 come January, we’ve been lucky with that due to my outstanding wife. But all that other stuff is an indulgence, the real work, the great work, lies in those two and letting them see things like today.
Later we’ll go out and browse the Christmas stalls, go home and get some tea and then go out again for the Christmas parade. It’s always really cool and the girls will love it again, walking behind Santa with a load of torches. Ace. This is the important shit as its building the right ideas in them that this is a good community to grow up in, that its worth looking after and helping out and doing things for and taking part and all the things that keep events like this going. Showing them these things and keeping them excited for Christmas is the most important job in the world right now and everything else is secondary. If you think otherwise, well you’re wrong and missing out.
