Once again our journey west was hampered by the weather. It doesn’t seem to matter when we travel during winter, there is always something. This year it was the snow dump that happened an hour or two before we left. We should have left earlier. We waited too late so the snow had already been, settled and then proceeded to do its damage on the roads. We also hadn’t done the shopping the day before, another rookie mistake. Why we were so complacent I don’t know. Maybe just getting too used to it.
The road that rises form just outside Kilmahog was our undoing as traffic as it backed up from where it rises up the hill by the river. We were stopped mainly at that house at the bad corner. The road is slippy with packed snow and I assume that’s why we were stuck. No cars crashed, no reliving an accident thankfully. Slow moving until our pit stop at Tyndrum and then the road was clear all the way with barely any snow from the turn off, which although not as picturesque, was a great relief. Anxiety headache to end the year!
