Halloween. Finally. I am actually not as into it as people might think. It seems far too Americanised and the idea of guising even as a kid did not appeal to me at all. Halloweening with my own children is a bit more fun, but if they said they didn’t want to go guising id be ok with that. I like watching old horror movies. I like the change in the season and I like the recognition of this. It’s not quite winter but its heading that way. I like the idea of effigies and idols, and decorating homes and burning and sacrifice but Halloween parties and plastic crap shit on ancient traditions and make a mockery of it. Therefore I do not like Hallowwen, I much prefer Samhain. Apart from the carving of neeps, that shit is hard. Make Halloween weird again.
On a totally different note I’ve been thinking a lot recently about colour, specifically autumnal colours. The red in that bush over there is incredible with your eyes. Then you take a picture of it and it looks like shit. I then have to apply a filter that brings out the colours that I see with my eyes. My conclusion, the eyes are the best technology we have and we should use them better and more often rather than our fucking cameras.
