Of course now we are back at work and the kids returned to school, the weather takes a shift for the better. Temperatures up to 20˚C, sun is out for a good part of the day, though it is cloudy at other points and even torrential rain at others yesterday. It dries up quickly. Unfair how it waits until now to change and I suspect September will be even better. My back, lower left side has been sore for a few days, since Friday and taking a while to clear. It should be away by now and it’s stopping me from doing this final squat session. I’m not hitting very big numbers these days, my 1RM has dropped to about 80%.
While this is annoying I do need to recognise that I am almost upon my 46th birthday and that is a slippery slope to 50. I want a blue belt by then and think I’m on the right track, just be consistent and show up. Yesterday I struggled through the workout. It was boring and I was unmotivated. Still, halfway through I realised I was there doing it, and that is the point. I persevered and the workout got done. They’re not all going to go well, but they all count. And it is the showing up and consistently doing the work that is required to make progress.
