Lovely morning, cool and sunny with the added bonus of picking conkers this afternoon. I hope we find some like last year. We found an acorn in the garden yesterday and I noticed some more dotted about the ground next to the trees when we were collecting firewood. Had two fires yesterday. One on the morning with school. It was both reinvigorating and rejuvenating. I lay on the woodland floor amongst the twigs and pine needles in front of a small fire and it felt great. I felt so home and relaxed it was noticeable. And this was work!
Late in the afternoon, in an attempt to keep the girls away from a sleepy mum, we built a fire in the garden. It went up quickly and we sat and warmed our hands before they went indoors. I sat for a bit myself burning out the embers. Later once it had cooled I tidied and packed the fire bowl away. I went back inside and the sky went dark. The rain that came down then was incredible. The apple trees were almost bouncing off the ground in the wind. It was so wild I took a video which I don’t think I’ve ever done before. I thought I’d maybe send it to my cousin who is enjoying Colorado stillness at the moment, a nice counter to what they are missing in Scotland.
