I have not been ill in some time. I can’t remember, I haven’t had a day off relating to my health this year yet, hopefully not at all, touching all the wood on the table as I write. But this healthier living approach must have some pay off right. My back injury was the worst thing to happen to me since my shoulder popped in, what 2008? 2009? That I still feel the repercussions of but my back is getting better every day, now four months into the rehab and I am able to squat and deadlift, albeit with much reduced numbers and frequency. But that’s ok, now I’m properly old I need to look out for that.
45 was the age I really started to notice things going downhill in terms of ability, agility etc. now it’s a struggle to get up, every time I get up and not just some of them. I have been regimental in my morning stretching and workouts, though the latter can always be improved upon and bjj has been consistent this year, which is a first. The consistency with which I have applied to it, barring obvious lay off for holidays and child traumas are paying off both in practice of my jiu-jitsu and in overall health.
