A lot more leaves on the ground after Storm Babette last night. The grass next to the house is covered in them. It’s not normally a westerly wind that blows here so it’s actually unusual to see them strewn that way. But the colours are magnificent. Even just looking out the window here I see a vibrant red on the tips of those bushes across the street. Very soon they will all be gone and it will be bare bones left. Browns, greys, coniferous greens of the same shade. It can’t be daylight saving Saturday is it? Must be next week.
Yesterday while at Beecraigs an entire tree fell down next to us. It was slow, it was noisy and it was great. What a sight to see. Relatively small compared to the size of the giant pines next to it but still sizeable enough. Lots of branches as well. Could it have crushed our den had it been positioned a bit closer? It was a wild day. Trees fall in the woods all the time. I remember the Beast from the East taking out a lot of the trees from here, or was it Storm Frank? Either way it cleared a lot of space whilst making walking difficult.
